IDN-H. Hoffman Co. has been involved in the wholesale distribution of security products for more than 70 years. The company has been family-owned and operated for three generations.
In the 1920ís, Harold Hoffman and his wife owned and operated a small repair shop on the south side of Chicago. Shop services included bicycle repair, vacuum repair, and locksmithing. In 1934, the company entered the wholesale distribution business selling a variety of manufactured items and automotive locks and parts from Detroit. In 1935, H. Hoffman also entered the manufacturing business as the company developed and introduced the first machine-made lock picks. Other products developed and manufactured were the graphite gun, Chrysler key decoder, and a small automotive punch key machine. By 1940, all efforts were centered on locksmithing, parts distribution, and locksmith tool manufacturing. Other products and services were phased out.
In the mid-1950ís, Al Hoffman (Haroldís son) took over management of the distribution portion of the business. A short time later, the manufacturing portion of the business was set up as a separate corporation and given its own identity, Hoffman Products Co. (HPC), under the management of another son, Jerry Hoffman.
With a focus on the wholesale distribution of security products, H. Hoffman Co. established itself as one of the leading providers of door hardware, security products, and locksmithing tools. The company offers access to thousands of products from the manufacturers you know and trust. As the industry has evolved, so has the company - now offering a wide selection of the latest in electronic access control products, digital surveillance systems, and CCTV solutions. The next generation of the Hoffman family is actively involved in running the company and planning for the future.
One goal that has always remained constant over the years is the desire to help valued customers succeed in their own business efforts by providing superior service, technical expertise, and convenient access to both traditional and leading-edge security products and services. We appreciate being given the opportunity to serve you.
